Dimitry Kuzmin scored three goals and J.J. Williamson, Tim Blakely and Phinneas Weston all added two more on Dec. 5 and powered the Homer Mariners to a rousing 11-3 rout of the Soldotna Stars in North Star Conference action.

Homer put the Stars on their heels early — and often — in the first 15 minutes of play. Kuzmin, Isaiah Nevak, Blakely and Weston all pitched in shots in the first period and staked the Mariners to a commanding 4-0 lead.

The news only got worse for the Stars from there. Homer scored five more goals in the second period and stretched its lead to 9-0. Kuzmin led the HHS assault, scoring the Mariners' first and last goal of the frame. Williamson, Spencer Warren and Blakely also found the net.

Soldotna managed to get its offensive game in gear early in the third. The Stars scored three unanswered goals and fought back to within 9-3 before Homer slammed the door closed.

Weston and Williamson both scored in the final 6:11 of the game to salt away the M's victory.

Homer will make its next outing on Dec. 16 when they travel to Kenai to face off with Kenai Central.
