You are invited to join artist Mavis Muller and dance festival artistic director Breezy Berryman, as they collaborate on a site-specific enactment of improvisational dance and music. The enactment is designed around a labyrinth, a ground design of a circular path that leads from the outside edge to the center and then back out again. The enactment will take place in the grassy field outside Mavis's studio-home and be filmed. Participants will move to the sounds of an original lyrical rhythmic soundtrack, composed by Mavis as a tribute to a purposeful path for protection of specific water bodies of Alaska.
This event is open to all ages, and no previous dance experience is necessary. Filmmaker Michael Walsh will be there with his camera as well as local documentary artist Bjorn Olson. The soundtrack will include local musician Caressa Starshine. The video will be presented at the festival's final performance, "Nature's Walk: An Evening of Dance and Multimedia Performance," at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the Mariner Theatre.
If you would like to be part of the enactment, please call Mavis at 299-1478 or Breezy at 299-4629.
